BikeBash13 Most Stylish Rider Contest - Prize Update

As I mentioned in an earlier post this week, I am in charge of putting together a desirable prize for the upcoming BikeBash13 'Most Stylish Rider' contest. We don't mess around in Lakeland. Thanks to local Lakeland bike shop, Bent's Cycling, this GORGEOUS saddle basket has been donated for the first prize. More items will be packed inside the basket. Stay tuned for prize updates.

BikeBash13 Coming to Lakleland!

The first Lakeland bicycle information fair will be held April 27th, 2013. Made possible by the City of Lakeland, BikeLakeland and Lakeland’s bike businesses and cycling groups, the fair will touch on all things cycling.  The event will take place in downtown Lakeland and will be within walking distance from the Downtown Curb Market, local shops and restaurants.

I'm very excited about this event. The cyclists community in Lakeland is embracing stylish, social riding and a contest will be held to determine the Most Stylish Rider. I have been asked to put together the prize for the winner so you know it will be fabulous.

Whether you’re looking for opportunities for social or exercise rides or to tap into local resources, BikeBash13 will have something for every rider’s needs. For more information click here.

Lakeland Named a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists

We did it! The city of Lakeland, FL has received a Bronze Level Bicycle Friendly Community recognition from the League of American Bicyclists. For full story go to http://bikelakeland.com/2012/10/lakeland-named-a-bicycle-friendly-community-by-the-league-of-american-bicyclists/

BikeLakeland

You may have noticed that this blog has been quiet for over a year. There's a reason for that. All the time that I previously dedicated to Lakeland Cycle Chic was transferred to the wonderful organization, BikeLakeland. BikeLakeland has been amazing over the past year. Thanks to this organization, many bicycle friendly action steps have been implemented. Bike racks have been installed in downtown Lakeland,FL and monthly social rides like 'Pub and Grub' have been coordinated. The group is spear headed by Chuck Welch who has been a huge asset to the community. Most recently, BikeLakeland collaborated with the City of Lakeland to apply for a Bicycle Friendly recognition from the League of American Bicyclists. As a cycle chic rider, I am beyond thrilled that BikeLakeland recognizes and includes me.
